What tyres do scissor lifts and boom lifts use?
Most scissor lifts and electric boom lifts run solid tyres, either rim-mounted or press-on depending on the machine. Sizes range from 16×5-9 on compact scissor lifts up to 33.5×15-28 on large boom lifts.
Should an aerial platform run smooth or lug tread?
Smooth tyres are the default for indoor platforms because they spread load and protect finished floors. Lug tread is used where the platform also works outdoors on dirt, gravel or gravelly yards. Many machines can run either, so the work site decides.
Are non-marking tyres available for aerial work platforms?
Yes. Scissor lifts working in shopping centres, airports, hospitals and clean production halls normally use non-marking compound. It is made to order in most AWP sizes — confirm the size and quantity and we will quote.
How do I confirm the right AWP tyre size?
Take the size from the existing sidewall, then confirm against the machine plate for load and the rim for mounting type. AWP tyres must be matched to the platform load at full extension, not just to the physical dimensions.
Can JABIL supply a solid tyre to replace a pneumatic AWP tyre?
In many cases yes, and it removes puncture risk on site. The substitution depends on the rim, the load at full extension and the machine speed, so send the details before ordering — a straight swap is not always appropriate.
